social –––––––……….. distancing

This very unhuman action is OUR challenge to reduce infections.

But paradoxically, we need to have much closer contact with our loved ones during this time to prevent loneliness. How can we do this without being able to hug each other?

Safety and Health Magazin has generated a list of tips for you: “COVID-19 pandemic: Tips to remain ‘sane and safe’ during social distancing”, March 18, 2020 // https://www.safetyandhealthmagazine.com/articles/19578-covid-19-pandemic-tips-to-remain-sane-and-safe-during-social-distancing

Are there any other positive effects of social distancing besides stopping the virus?

We think YES. It’s not bad if everyone slows down a little. But we also know, that dealing with yourself is not always easy. If you manage though, you might love it! 😉

We also came across an article today that shows some positive impacts about social distancing in big cities:

read the article about cicyling. in Bogota, by Stefan Weißenborn vom 18.03.2020:

2020

A dear friend and colleague of mine wrote some words
about a time and year we will always remember. Enjoy reading and reflecting. Stay healthy!

13.03.20 – 23.30 (Bozen) – written by Francesco Piazza

2020

  1. A number we will always remember.
    Twothousandandtwenty.
For someone a date, for others a change.
    Twenty-twenty. A peculiar year,
which means nothing to the universe.

2020 is a small particle of an enormous cell,
that history will remember,
but the infinite won’t.

For human beings a catastrophe,
for the stars nothing.

Such a small thing, such a big attention,
such a big impact on such small beings
that occupy a nothingness in the infinity of existence.

However, the distance,
caused by this nullity,
is creating such a big vacuum.

Such a small thing
and we are full of emptiness,
and the universe does not care.

Twothousandtwenty. The moment in which
a tiny nothing
remembered us the beauty
of a hug.

While nothing had changed.

How can we foster change?

Studies show, that in some regions the abrupt stop of our activities lead to a quick recovery of nature. We have to say that this is a state – we, as eco social designers, dreamed of. Just not under those circumstances.

But that’s where we are now. What can we do with it?

Our concern is, that everything will go back to „normality“ when we mastered the crisis. But we think that if we can make a change now, we can be better prepared for the future, with all the new challenges that might come.

Can we foster a change?

A few articles we find worth reading dealing with the environmental change:

“There’s an unlikely beneficiary of coronavirus: The planet” by Rebecca Wright, CNN, March 17, 2020 // https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/16/asia/china-pollution-coronavirus-hnk-intl/index.html

“Offsetting The Coronavirus And Other Lessons For the Climate Crisis” – Raz Godelnik, February 18, 2020 // https://medium.com/@razgo/offsetting-the-coronavirus-and-other-lessons-for-the-climate-crisis-d1639dfb7055

New actualities

Hi – I am Lisa and the other half of ZeBa!

I am a freelance designer working in the field of graphic, textile
and performing arts and currently finishing my Masters Degree in
Eco-social Design at the Free University of Bolzano / Italy.
For my thesis I work with my friend and colleague Federico Bertacchini about new concepts of biodiversity for the rural and urban context to foster a eco–social change, – especially in the South Tyrolean acgriculture!

Now I am „locked“ up at home and I start to re–think in different kind of layers and perspectives.
I understood that the thoughtfulness I normally try to carry was hidden under multiple carpets the last weeks with a lot of dust
and without a certain magic. Now I am becoming more silent and calm. It seems the fast pace is gone !? I move differently. I finally look more inside, – but I am not forgetting the outside! But what is outside?

Outside is this critical current situation and setting
about the Covid-19! But also I can see connectedness, –
between humans, – as well non-humans!

Let’s restore the land, the fertility and the
relationships together!

Let’s take care about each other, –
Let’s support each other, –
Let’s create and think together!

Ahoi and cheers to futureing us!

I AM HOME

The first week in isolation.

I am a freelance designer and my apartment is my studio. This was also the case before the shutdown last Tuesday. So you would think that my daily life didn’t change a lot? Well, …

With isolation came dullness.

Why and What should I work?

– I’m running out of wool. (Sheep wool is THE material I work with and color lately.) And my suppliers have closed.
– My first market, where I wanted to sell my objects out of wool, got canceled.
– London is waiting for a delivery, but even if I could finish the objects, they might have to close the shop soon as well? And am I even allowed to send packages?

And climbing? – Am I allowed to go to the crag?

After two days of hanging, eating and drinking wine, I luckily found motivation again.

Rethink. Adapt. Get started.

– Now I just dye old clothes and sheets instead of wool.
– The climbing got replaced by yoga. (Thanks to our landlords we have our own “studio” for this now)
– “Futureing us” instead of Netflix!

Doesn’t sound too bad? At least it feels good to have a plan again. Let’s see how long it lasts.
